After a recent speaking engagement in Jacksonville, FL, I had the pleasure of being included in a newsletter of someone who attended my talk. I thought the write-up they did was very well worded and captured the heart of the message I was trying to convey, so with their permission, I wanted to forward the article on to you. Thank you for the kind words Christian and Kavie Stahl!
Discover You “Why”
We recently had the great honor to attend a speaking event by Josh Forster, author of Discovering Why – A Guide to Meaning and Purpose in Everyday Life. Both of us were inspired by Josh and his wife’s passion for helping to end child trafficking in South Asia, specifically in the sex industry there. Their story is both heart breaking and inspirational. During his talk Josh challenged a room full of highly driven and successful people to come with their “Big Why.” Many people could not find an answer that seemed to fit. While we all have small reasons why we do what we do, he asked what is the driving force in your life? Not in a spiritual or religious way, but in a tangible way.
Why are you working so hard? Josh suggests that if you can figure out your big why you can work harder than ever before and love doing it. You will try harder, reach further and do all you were created for. Josh and his wife have never been the same since discovering their true purpose in life. Their business has grown as they align everything in their life to achieve their goal to end child trafficking in Asia. They haven’t changed what they do, they changed how they do it based on why they do it. The book, so far, is challenging in a good way.
Already successful in their fields, the Forsters have risen to a level they never thought possible and are able to raise money and take time to personally make an impact in the lives of those affected. Have you spoken with someone who is passionate about something? Whether their job/career, or a side project? You want to know more about them. Their enthusiasm is contagious. We are currently reading the book and highly recommend it to you, especially if you are unsure what your Big Why is. Finding it could lead to a transformation.
